District opener for both teams. How the Rockets respond after horrific loss last week could be interesting. I'm still doing the homer choice and going with the Rockets.

As much as I think NB has improved and could have their best shot at making the playoffs this season (as a result of the demise of Steele football), Judson still has too much speed and talent. I'll take the rockets but it should be competitive. The key will be whether the Unicorn's QB can put pressure on the Judson secondary.

If any year to beat Judson this may be NB’s best chance in awhile. I think this might shape up to be a good game.

Suddenly this game becomes much more interesting. But I'll still say Judson by 2 TD's.

I think is going to be a down year for the district as a whole. At this point I don't see anyone challenging the Austin top teams and even worst I see a valley team getting closer to an upset of someone here in SA. I've seen Steele play and that dynasty is officially over. This will be the worst year win/loss for the knights since they started and most likely want make the playoff as well. Lets face it, they are rebuilding with very little talent and terrible coaching. SV and Clemens looks the strongest at this point. Both have solid defenses with average offenses. Shut down the QB on both and you stand a chance of winning but you have to be able to score on there defenses which is not easy unless you can pass. Both have a very good run defense. Wagner, I don't think the t-Birds will be competitive even with their sensational RB Butler. Their offense is one dimensional and run heavy which is easy to shutdown. That Veer or whatever you call it takes a special QB that can run and pass and I'm not sure they have it this year. Okay so (NB,EC,SS) will be at the bottom although NB will upset someone most likely Steele for the first time. So I saved My Judson Rockets for Last and honestly I don't have a good read on them yet. The Desoto game exposed their biggest weakness which is QB play and the secondary but that's Desoto coupled with the first game thing, I just didn't think they were ready for that and just got beat by a better more talented team. The QB doesn't look comfortable back there and will have to grow on the job. We don't develop QB's like the Austin teams and even when we are up big in games we send the backup out there just to hand the ball off. Why cant he play a series or two during the pressure games so its familiar to him. The Rockets QB play will determine how far they go this season. That's my unbias two cents on the district.

The district is competitive but no match for the Austin or Houston programs. With Austin, they can't match the programs. With Houston and Dallas, they can't match the talent. DeSoto's beat down of Judson was proof of that. Used to be that Steele was the district's best chance against those teams but Coach Saenz has destroyed that program. Steele has more talent than I actually had thought though, especially in their front seven. They even have several key players on the defensive side of the ball that have size and are only sophomores. Offensively, they are hit and miss. Beagel hasn't developed the way I thought he would and this is the least talented crop of RBs they have ever had. They do have an interesting sophomore at the slot and another sophomore WR/TE that shows promise but not a whole lot more than that. I had heard they have a promising frosh at the QB spot that is currently on the freshmen unit also. But if that coaching continues to fail to develop their players then you can just pour dirt on that program. Wagner supposedly has a lot of promising freshmen players so they may be a program to contend with for some time. SV will always maximize what they have because of Hill. Clemens is hit and miss and as for Judson-always talented but something always seems to get in their way. They are just not the Judson of the dynasty years.
