There are 245 total teams in 6a for football A total of 717,110 enrolled students in these 245 schools for an average enrollment of 2,927. The largest school once again is Allen with 6,959 and the smallest is South Garland at 2,151
R1 - 60 teams - Largest enrollment is 6,959, smallest 2,229, & Avg size is 3,078.4 R2 - 60 teams - Largest enrollment is 4,539, smallest 2,151, & Avg size is 2,888.3 R3 - 59 teams - Largest enrollment is 4,505.5, smallest 2,230.5, & Avg size is 2,971.4 R4 - 66 teams - Largest enrollment is 4,234, smallest is 2,224, & Avg size is 2,784.8
Allen is now in 5-6a and the next largest school in that district is McKinney with almost 4,000 less kids than Allen
6-6a is the Plano and Lewisville schools along with Coppell. The largest is 5,579.5 and smallest is 3,094 and the average size of the 8 schools in this district is 4,385.3 kids...…...RIDICULOUS imho So, basically if Plano, Plano West, Plano East, & Lewisville make the playoffs, we will have Plano (4,999) and Lewisville (4,468) in the D2 bracket of the playoffs. Anybody else think it is time the UIL pulls their heads out and fixes this?
In the SA area districts Judson (2,504) & Wagner (2,233) are locks for D2 (who would have ever though) lol SV (2,980) is a lock for D1 and so is SC (2,657) unless East Central (3,123) gets in. Steele (2,606) & NB (2,634.5) could go either D1 or D2 This district is likely going to be leaving 1 or 2 pretty good teams at home come playoff time!
Reagan (3,462) & Madison (3,235.5) are both D1 locks (Reagan is now SA's largest school) Mac (2,415) & CH (2,746) are both D2 locks Brandeis (2,839) should remain D2 provided that 2 of the following get in - Reagan, Madison, Johnson (3,201), Clark (2,950), or Lee (3,058)
OC (3,302) & Warren (3,051) are D1 locks Brennan (2,744) is 3rd smallest and unless both Taft (2,568) and Marshall (2,604) get in they will be D2

personally, i think it's wagner that will determine the fate of steele when it comes to whether steele goes D1 or D2. is wagner really that much better this time around? they really benefited from a very weak district. they did have some nice wins against harlan and veterans memorial (and flour bluff)but they were dominated by the more elite teams such as judson and shadow creek. is that veer (or split I) offense going to cause problems for teams? can they beat smithson valley and clemens also? it's gonna be very interesting.

They were not dominated by Judson in 2018 at all......yet that Judson team absolutely dominated Steel in district that year. I think Wagner was better in 2018 & 19' than they were in 17' and that year Steele only beat them 31-14. And in 2016 when Steele went to state it was even closer at 40-28! NB is getting better and I expect them to have a say in the playoffs and the seeding of it as well. I

I could definitely see NB being a player in that they might pull off an upset or two to really make things interesting. Hell, even East Central is capable of that.

This district could very well have 2, maybe even 3 teams stay home that are pretty damn solid

Thanks for breaking down those numbers.
It’s been a while since New Braunfels was in the running for 6A D1.
The last time that happened was in 2013, when Madison blasted New Braunfels in a D1 bidistrict matchup. I bet they never expected to see the Unicorns against after they blasted them in predistrict.
Wagner may be better than before, but I also have my doubts. They were totally rolled by Judson last year. NB matched up better last year to Judson. The last time the Unicorns played Wagner, NB won 60-19. It wasn’t close. NB has been improving but it’s all about the matchups too. NB was more competitive against the playoff teams than EC, but EC beat NB anyways.
So I’m thinking it’s going to be a three way race for 5th place between East Cental, Wagner and New Braunfels.
I’m betting when the preseason ranking comes out, it will look like this:
5. Wagner 6. East Central 7. New Braunfels 8. South San
It looks like pundits may have NB and South San fighting for the cellar. I have my own ideas on how NB will finish.

South San It looks like pundits may have NB and South San fighting for the cellar. I have my own ideas on how NB will finish. Yes Judson smoked Wagner early on but they were trying to settle in with a new QB running that offense and that is a big, big component of what they do with their offense. I'm not saying Wagner would have beaten Judson late in the season but I'd bet cold hard cash it would have been a much more competitive game. I to think the sledding is going to be much tougher for the T-birds here as the defenses tend to be bigger and quicker and give them more problems running it. As far as NB I think they are going to continue to improve and likely be right in the mix for a playoff spot. I also see EC continuing to improve as well and their numbers certainly are not going to impede that at all being the 5th largest in SA with 3,123 enrollment. Overall, this district is once again the toughest overall in R4 and will likely have a couple of deserving teams sitting at home in week 1 of the playoffs.
