mixed reviews early on. their defense is still a question mark but it does appear to be better than last year's defense, which was their biggest weakness. the secondary is solid and forcing more turnovers and the LBs are coming along nicely. they are still vulnerable against the run but appear to have a bit of a pass rush this season. they are certainly scrappier and appear to be a bit stronger and faster to the ball. offensively, the QB (wyatt b.)is very up and down. there are times where he makes a great throw and others where he is very careless, especially in staring down his receivers and giving up the INTs (he had two against reagan, and an unforced fumble). the O line is getting there but still giving up to much pressure and not consistently opening up the gaps. they are also extending or killing drives with penalties. that being said, steele has some explosiveness and that has been seen so they can strike quickly and are putting up points. this is not bad considering they have been without their starting RB (thomas) and star WR (jackson), who could both be back by the clemens game, having jackson back would help wyatt as he and jackson had nice chemistry last season. also, by the end of the season, some of the freshmen they have been playing should be even better. they have a frosh RB with a lot of talent and potential and a frosh DE that is pretty big and has shown flashes. at this point though, i would pick clemens and judson over steele and would have o see how they come along before assessing their chances against smithson valley and NB. overall though, this team appears to be better than the team from the past two seasons with some promising young talent in the mix.

Steele, is average at best, they do have a few weapons on offense but so predictable with the play calling. How far can Wyatt take them? don't know at this point. Defense has a few holes to fill as well but seems to be getting better. I was surprised that Regan made it a game though. Will know more when they face an offense that can pass and run the ball like Judson.

How they doing this year? They have played sloppy at times and looked really good at other times. I dont think OC is as good as last and Reagan certainly was not in this game at least. The D is playing a little better than last year. Stokes seems to be a good LB and #45 is a monster at seemingly everything. Not sure if he was JV last year but he has came out of nowhere. Serano is a young man not afraid to hit also. So all and all I think a little better on D than last year. On offense Wyatt just needs to settle down. He is very talented and can kill with his arm and feet. He has made some bad decision early in both games but also made some huge plays. His best receiver and also the starting RB have been out. Speaking of Thomas, just based on last season I am not sure if he was what it takes to be a 15 to 20 carry back. He was injured a lot last year. At times he looked very strong. He was certainly better than #28 last year but Collins out played him and earned the spot last year. Perhaps if Thomas is 100% when he returns he will show us what he can do. I think he is very strong but does not have breakaway speed. Baily is showing potential as a freshman. But at this moment we dont seem to have a Brown, Brady or Stockton in the backfield. Which puts more presure on Wyatt and ofcourse the OL. I think the OL is looking a little better than last year also, but that could be because of who we have played. Special teams play has been good. I must mention #45 again. He seems to do everything. I hope we stop going for 2 when we dont need to. That is going to cost us one of these days. Bottom line is we wont really know till district starts where we are. Judson and Clemens should be favorites to battle for top spot. I see Steele, SV and NB fighting for the other 2 spots. SV has had our number the last 2 years. We almost won last year but it was an ugly game for us. We really need to win that one this year. We may get a few breaks and win over either Clemens or Judson. But then again we may drop a game to one of the lower ranked teams in district. We have to protect the ball better and cut down on penalties for sure.
