Steele managed to win game one for the first time in a couple of years but still needs a lot of work. Meanwhile Regan was shutout by a strong Brennan D.
I think Steele takes the home game here but will not shut Reagan out. The Knights D is just not that good. It should be a close game and I am hoping to see some improvement from the Knights.

I thought I heard the TSP radio announcer say that the Reagan coach had decided to rest his starting QB Travis Stehle last game and that he did not play vs Brennan. If that's true, it may explain the Brennan shutout. Stats page at the Express is very slow in posting this year, maybe someone who saw the game will tell us.

This is from the EN article on the game. "The Bears sacked Reagan starting quarterback Rhett Buell five times, including twice on the Rattlers’ first two plays from scrimmage. Buell started in place of presumptive starter Travis Sthele, a member of the Express-News’ Class 6A All-Area team last year.
Reagan coach Lyndon Hamilton said Sthele didn’t start because he wanted to get him some rest. He wasn’t more specific than that."

Kid may have had a small injury, no need to get your QB killed in a game that does not count.

Steele has too much speed and talent on both sides of the ball for Reagan to win this one.

So is Steele back? That was a good win against OC. Of course it also means that 26-6A might be getting crowded. I never doubted that Steele wouldn’t be a playoff team, but it looks like they will compete for the title again (instead of the doom and gloom scenarios by the fans that they will miss the playoffs).

I will only take the wait and see approach here. Right now I'd say it is.... Judson Clemens & then everyone else. SC may have the D this year to challenge Judson for the District title. I simply do not see that kind of defense at Steele anymore.

i'm also taking a wait and see approach to steele's defense. there were some positives that i saw in both the johnson scrimmage and the OC game, in that they seemed to be better against the run and more capable of rushing the QB. the secondary also got three INTs this last game and that was a problem for them last year (creating turnovers) so that was another positive. it was just one game though but the same can be said for clemens because i don't know how good madison is going to be this season either. but 26-6A could be a dog fight, that's for sure.

First post on the new board, hopefully I hit the right reply tab I watched the game on TV & no way Steele wins this game last year, they would of folded. I saw a lot more of the past Steele teams with tons of talent, but most of all was the focus, body language, demeanor - what ever you want to call it but they played more as a team with an attitude. Great start to the season

Great start to the season i had a great view of the bench and can tell you that i saw the passion that has been missing for a couple of years. the players were expressing emotion. they were engaged in the game and not just standing around, looking disinterested. and the coaches...for the first time in a long time, they were screaming and challenging the players and telling them to go out there and get it; it was very refreshing to see. and the players were responding to them in a very positive way.
