Here we are yet again. 4th match-up between these two teams in the last 6 years.
Bowie is coming off a solid win against an over-matched 5A Pflugerville team, 42-21. QB Sanders is back from an ACL in the 3rd game last season. It was his 2nd ACL injury in the last 2 years. We're just hoping he can play his entire senior year. He had 252 yds passing with 3 TD, and ran for 55 yds and 3 more TDs in Week 1.
Bowie has very little depth. The team doesn't have many seniors and lost a ton to graduation. They already lost a couple of contributors to injury (more knee injuries). Pretty frustrating. A lot of guys are having to go both ways till some depth is developed.
Watch for #14 York (DE/WR) - he had 100+ yds receiving, 2 sacks and at least 2 TFL. Also watch #2 Gaines (WR/DB) - diminutive speedy guy had 130+ yds receiving and 2 TDs.
I see Madison lost 28-0, but they played a much tougher opponent in Clemens. I figured Madison might start slow since they're replacing such a talented QB. I read on here that the Mavs OLine is also a work in progress. Did that hold true in Week 1? Other than the score, how are the Mavs looking in key areas?

Once again those DAWGS look pretty dang good to me, BD. You can catch a very short highlight of the Mavs vs Buffs on MaxPreps. It seems to me that our QB was putting a little too much juice on his long passes in his first real varsity start, plus a severe epidemic of fumbilitis stalled our drives. That's to take nothing away from the Clemens defense, they are tremendously strong this year. Last season the Mavs lost the first two games before compiling a very nice string of victories. I hope we can come close to that this year. Good luck and safe travels.

Dee Willies BBQ - Best in SA IMHO O'Conner Rd & Wurzbach Pkwy Chine Sea Buffet - 4300 Thousand Oaks - Great selection of fish, shrimp, and ton of great Chinese recipes - Best in SA that I've had for sure Bayseas Catfish House - 13954 Nacogdoches Rd - Without a doubt the best fried catfish in SA and all great sides!
All three of these are easily accessed and not out of the way for you to hit before the ball game bro.
And, I'd love to see the Mavs prove me wrong here but I think Bowie by 2 scores.

BD, no fair putting up a poll. No way I can pick against the Mavs regardless of clinical analysis. Anyhow the Mavs will show up and do the best they can.

BD, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. No telling how many words a video is worth. I think your questions are best answered by watching the Clemens vs Mavs highlight on MaxPreps, 14.5 minutes, click on the Clemens video tab.
Clemens really came to play, the Mavs weren't quite ready yet.

nice win for bowie. and where did you wind up eating? This is a Week 2 matchup! sorry i was referring to the win against pflugerville. my mistake on the eating out part. for that area, i would have to agree with two bros bbq, although max & louie's NY diner off of bitters is pretty solid.

After watching that Clemens highlight I recommended to BD on MaxPreps several times, I discerned the reason why our good running back #2 Darien Gill fumbled three times. On more than one occasion he was being held upright and pummeled by three or four defenders while another defender was yanking the ball out of his hands. Why no whistle from the ref when forward progress was stopped, and where in hell were his teammates? I trust that Coach P scalded the fat behinds of the Mavs OL in practice this week. I've found that a stern backside chewing can put some fire in the belly of the recipient.
Anyway, I finally wangled a kitchen pass, bought my ticket, and will be there to lend my old leather lunged support to the Mavs tomorrow night from row 29 on the 50.
Listen for M-A-A-A-VRICKS just as loud as I can manage.

The Bowie folks are apparently going to Charlie Brown's next to the stadium. I have to meet them there, so I guess that's where I'll be.

Going to be a long 2nd half for Bowie if Madison keeps running the ball. No depth, way undersized vs. Mavs' OL, and Mavs running no huddle. Bowie already getting worn down.
Also seen a lot more mishandles, fumbles, etc than last week.
Mavs look big and fast.

After sleepwalking through most of the first quarter, the Mavs finally woke up and decided to play football. Lots of work left to be done, but a good 55-37 win against a talented Bowie team.

Bowie has some real problems, and Madison showed it. The defense is just too small. We don't have any size waiting in the wings, either. Half our defense plays offense. Madison just wore them out completely. And Madison did exactly what I said at half. I don't think they threw a single pass in the 2nd half, and didn't punt till their last possession of the game.
Bowie was demoralized. There was no answer. The offense kept fighting and put up 37, but didn't look sharp doing it.
If Bowie makes the playoffs this year, it may be the staff's best coaching job ever.
