Judson has owned the Knights the last 2 years. The Knights seem the be playing better this year but have not been tested yet. It should be a good game.

I hope you are right about it being a good game but I don't see Steele keeping it within 17 of Judson. Unless Steele has found a better run D I fear the Rockets will pile up rushing yards like crazy. DT QBs have always given Steele trouble even back when the man had this team and he had coach Pav running the D...…...both are long gone and the Judson QB is going to have a big day. If I am wrong I will come back on this thread and say it...……..AND I HOPE I HAVE TO DO JUST THAT!

steele does have a better run d than last year. of that, there is no doubt. the eye test alone shows that. part of the reason is the play of the LBs, which is a surprise because this was supposed to be the weakest position for the defense. i think the key is actually the offense. can they avoid turning the ball over and giving a short field? can they avoid drive killing penalties? can they establish a run game? will wyatt play a smart game? i think the absence of their starting RB and best WR has been something that steele has been able to manage through to this point, but these players will be sorely missed against judson. so it's really the offense that has me picking judson. if the spread was 17, i'd probably take steele against that spread. btw, steele has a very inconsistent FG kicker this season so if any of their district games came down to a game winning FG opportunity, it would likely not turn out well for the knights.

Great points B91 for sure. I hope you are right and the Steele D comes to play and can limit Judson's O somewhat. The last two years Judson has done anything they wanted offensively. I do agree with you that the Steele offense has got to have a good game. Limit the 3 and outs and at least win the field position battle by flipping the field and forcing Judson to go a long ways to score.

Heck yeah, CBuff. I'd make Judson start their dang drives on either the I35 or I10 access roads. After all, a little ole handicap like that shouldn't be any problem at all for a state ranked team.

Yes the run D has been better than last year but that is not saying much. They will be tested this week. I agree the LB play has been awesome so far and Garza is a monster in the middle. But again so far not really tested. Our OL has to win against the Rocket DL for the Knights to win. We have to be able to run the ball and control time of possession. A shoot out against the Rockets is not a good thing. I would definitely take the Knights plus 17 points. I expect a good game. I think the Rockets should be favored but would not be shocked if the Knights pull this off. They have to play better than they have so far though.

I do believe Steele is better than last year by a good bit but if memory serves me right, Judson called the dogs off last year and still won by 5 TDs.

Another classic game from the top two teams in the SA area. Just about everything that could occur during a game happened last night. Judson's inexperience on D was exposed by a very good Knight offensive machine, but fortunately the Rockets were able to answer with their offense. Lewis had one heck of a game as did Chandler. both defenses had a rough night, but came up with great stops throughout the slugfest. If the Rockets defense can continue to improve, they will be a tough team to beat. Good luck to the Knights the rest of the way. No rest for them with Clemens next week.

I was exhausted from just watching the game. I can only imagine how the boys on the field felt. It was a classic hard hitting game with a lot of big plays. A couple of kind of strange plays thrown in as well. Yes Lewis is amazing. I dont know how any team will contain him. He has size, speed and good vision. I just dont think any team in our district has the D to stop this Rocket offense. Both teams need to imrove on D but it was the first district game. I see mostly lower scoring games for the Knights the rest of the season. I could be happy with a nice 21 to 14 win next week myself. My heart cant take too many games like last night.

What a game! And what a tuff district! Your 4th place team would beat out a whole bunch of 1st place teams in other districts.

What a game! And what a tuff district! Your 4th place team would beat out a whole bunch of 1st place teams in other districts. It is usually a competitive district. Judson and SV have been local powerhouses for quite a while and Steele had good run for a while. Is Steele on the way back to greatness. I dont think so. As great as this Judson offense is, they would not have put that many points up on a Jinks coached Steele team. I was impressed by our QB play and glad to see a couple of Junior receivers make some big catches. I wish we would have kept poundind Thomas up the middle more. He is certainly not as good as Judsons's RB but I felt our OL was as good or better than Judson's. We were opening up running lanes. This is the first year in a long time I have seen Steele's OL do that. The last few years have been pathetic. I am not sure when our number 1 receiver returns. If Wyatt keeps playing like he did and we get our Iowa State commit back at receiver we should have a great offense. But we will not make it out of region if we cant stop the run. Again Judson is great and perhaps the best rushing team we will play all year. But I still say we should have done better. Can we beat Clemens and SV? Yes we can. Will we? Well that remains to be seen. I woud have to slightly favor us to win those games. But only slightly. Clemens will be ready for us. They have not beat Steele since Steele was a new school. I think maybe 2007. Not sure if that was the year but something like that. A lot of the games have been close though. They are hungry and coming off a huge come from behind win. They held SV to just one score. I find that amazing. So I hope the Knights shake this game off and are ready for the buffs. The stadium will be packed. Get there early. I mean very early. Lol

Great game and kudos to the Knights for making it close.
It truly is too bad that we've forgotten how to play defense in the past 6 seasons since Jinks left because this would be a pretty dang good football team with the offense they have if we had one of those old school Steele Ds.

Lol Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Jinks the head coach when Tivy hung 55 on Steele in 2010? I had a kid on the Steele defense that night so I remember every excruciating TD that Johnny Football put up that night and how he shred that defense. Quite frankly Bill Belichick couldn't have slowed Johnny down and really I don't think anyone could've slowed Judson's Dynamic Duo Friday night. They were unstoppable and will be for anyone in the State. It's just one of those games that manifests itself into a shootout and defenses have very little to say about it (see Duncanville vs North Shore State Game 2018...both had great defenses too). Steele's only loss to Clemens was in 2006, Inagural Season.

as usual, SC, some spot on points. if i recall, even the madison game that season was a back and forth offensive battle that the defenses of both teams struggled in. this judson offense is a beast. and the steele offense has the potential to be the same.

I hope you are right and that some of the old Steele defense is indeed returning that has been missed for several years now. So far this year we have 0 losses to teams we 'should have beaten' so that is good thing. Hope that continues on.
