Seen the Mavs play Clemens already and wasn't impressed with either team. Thinking the Rangers take this. one.

I'd say shutting out Madison was pretty dang good and the whoopin' they laid on Mac was impressive. I think SC had Mac down 42-7 at half! This should be a good game I think but I will go with SV by 7-10 points.

Yall shore may be right. But, I saw something happen to the Mavs waiting for the snap demeanor on both sides of the ball after the first comeback touchdown in the first quarter last game. It's been missing for a lot of years, I call it "fire in the belly". "I took your best shot, now I'm coming for you!". And they did, bigtime!
I've waited a long time to see them rear up on their hind legs and bare their teeth like they used to. Go Mavs Go.

Hard to bet against Coach Hill in a big game. That's the only reason I picked SV in this game!!

A one legged man will still have toes left over when he counts up coaches as good as Larry Hill. His players started learning his system in 7th grade if not in peewee football. Over the years his teams have been tough as shoe leather without an ounce of quit in them. I can't detect any difference in them this year.
Last year a young Madison man with the heart of a warrior, Dante Haeggans, simply refused to lose. His leadership inspired his team mates in many a close game. I think that leadership and memory of victory is still echoing in the halls at Madison today, because last game I saw the whole dang bunch catch fire with it. Doesn't mean they won't lose. It does mean they're going to put up a hell of a fight. Whoever is ahead when the final buzzer sounds will win.

Is it safe to assume Madison isn't very good?

Congratulations to Coach Hill and the Rangers. Superior game plan and great execution, the outcome was never in doubt.
Buttons, why just assume when the facts are plainly evident?

If I didn't already feel bad about Bowie's season, Madison goes and gets shutout a 2nd time.
Man, it's gonna be a long year for my Dawgs.

Are the teams from NEISD just down this year or is the talent no longer resent?

DJ, I wouldn't lay last night's debacle at the feet of the players. They are the same players who a week ago scored 55 points from all over the field. The difference was in the game plans. Four days was simply not enough time to prepare and install a new game plan for a team like Smithson Valley. It looked like to me the play selection was a rehash of the Bowie game, unfortunately, SV was ready with the perfect counters. I don't have any inside information but I suspect that Coach Hill had been considering this rematch off and on since last year. SV's record last year had to have really stung.
Reagan has been without its starting QB the first two games. I think you'll see a different team tonight.

I think you'll see a different team tonight. www.mysanantonio.com/sports/high_school/high_school_football/article/Reagan-scores-28-straight-to-upset-Clemens-14439417.phpYou were right about that my friend. Great comeback by Reagan. Re: SV vs Madison SV dominated physically. I have never seen a more physical team since Steele in 2010 (State Champs). Not at all dirty, just physically dominant. They must have a super strength and conditioning program. Sure they have size, but size does not always equal strength. None of their players have bad weight. And as you allude, Madison did not appear mentally ready to play. Lack of execution/ enthusiasm. Did you see how upset Coach P was when he called timeout on SV's first drive ? Went 10-15 yards onto the field, almost got a flag/warning from the refs. Offensively, I think Madison needs to have a moving pocket when Garza throws. He has a good arm, but his height may be an issue. Does Madison have the same OC this year ? Garza is also very light, scares me when he is tackled. The positive of the the 44-0 loss was that I did not have to witness those Madison "pooch" kickoffs.

If I didn't already feel bad about Bowie's season, Madison goes and gets shutout a 2nd time. Man, it's gonna be a long year for my Dawgs. I am thinking SV is just really good right now. They opened on the road against a very good Midland Lee team and made it a competitive game. I am thinking they could be in the running to win district. Clemems losing to Reagan really shocked me and it seems to be a year when anything can and will happen. The Steele/Judson game could tell us how those teams are doing. But SV scares me more than Judson right now. I am sure Clemens will bounce back and New Braunels and East Central can not be taken lightly for sure. It is a fun district.
